Coyotes Seen on Saratoga's Fruitvale Avenue

Resident reports the animals were crossing the road on Monday, April 15.

Heads up, again! More coyotes have been spotted in Saratoga since they were last seen in January.

This week, Saratoga Patch reader Dan Rice emailed us to alert us that he had encountered two of the animals Monday evening at about 11:30 p.m. on his way to pick up his son at a friend's house on Chester Avenue.

As he was driving down Saratoga Avenue, turning left onto Fruitvale Avenue, he saw them crossing the road from a large field.

"I looked for them when I came back home but didn't see them," he said.

When he got home, he went online to run a search for coyote or wolfe in Saratoga and came up with our story posted early this winter, he said.

Saratoga resident Pamela Bradley, a nail technician who lives at the Saratoga Springs Picnics and Campgrounds facility at 22801 Big Basin Way, reported seeing two "very big" coyotes then.

Bradley relayed how in the six years she's lived at Saratoga Springs, she's seen raccoons, deer, wild boar and turkeys in the area.

Last November, a bobcat sauntered through Cooper-Garrod Estate Vineyards to stalk gophers, the wine maker posted on Facebook.

Bill Cooper, co-owner of the vineyards, said the wildlife hadn't been seen for a while.
