El Camino Hospital Los
Gatos Receives Joint Commission Certification in Hip and Knee
Replacement and Spinal Fusion Surgery

El Camino Hospital today announced that its
Los Gatos campus received Joint Commission Certification in Hip and Knee
Replacement, as well as Spinal Fusion Surgery.
The Joint Commission is the nation’s
oldest and largest evaluation organization in health care, and certification is
a widely recognized benchmark for overall program quality.

“This certification is a direct reflection of the Orthopedics team’s hard
work and commitment to providing quality patient care that meets the highest
standards,” said Tomi Ryba, president and chief
executive officer of El Camino Hospital.  “The Los Gatos campus has
distinguished itself over the years for its orthopedic services and the Joint
Commission Certification gives our community yet one more reason to rely upon
El Camino Hospital for its orthopedic health needs, especially in the area of
spinal surgery.”

El Camino
Hospital participated in rigorous on-site surveys in May 2013.  The Joint Commission surveyor evaluated the
Los Gatos campus for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of
patients, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication
management.  The Joint Commission’s Disease
Specific Certification standards address important functions relating to the
care of patients and the management of hospitals. The standards are developed
in consultation with health care experts, providers, measurement experts and
patients.

El Camino Hospital ranks
among leading hospitals in Northern California specializing in joint
replacement; its surgeons perform more than 500 joint replacements each year
utilizing the latest joint replacement technology.   The hospital’s spine specialists are trained in advanced surgical techniques- including minimally
invasive procedures for lumbar spinal fusion.
The hospital also provides its post-surgical patients comprehensive care,
acute rehabilitation and outpatient therapies.
