Hillis Financial Services Provides 2013 Outlook and Economic Review of U.S. and International Markets

San Jose, Calif. — February 20, 2013 — Hillis Financial Services, a San Jose-based independent wealth management firm, is expecting a large turnout at their annual Economic Outlook event at the Golf Club at Boulder Ridge in San Jose on February 23rd at 12:00 p.m. for clients and guests. The firm has been holding these events for over a decade and last year’s event garnered over 100 attendees. In light of the fiscal cliff negotiations and Washington’s continued uncertainty, President Jack Hillis and Executive Vice President Caroline Delaney have invited guest speaker Darren Cde Baca, CFP®, CIMA and Regional Vice President of Ivy Funds to discuss international markets, the U.S. economic outlook, the housing marketing, and more.

“At Hillis Financial Services, we disregard hype that feeds concerns about the fiscal cliff deal effects and policy changes,” said Hillis. “Instead, we are focused on our conservative approach to client portfolio management, believing that in today’s markets, managing risk is as important as seeking growth.”

Hillis Financial Services has been a trusted San Jose wealth management firm since 2001 and Hillis and Delaney have over 70 years of combined experience. They believe potential volatility in the stock and bond markets requires their efforts to adequate portfolio management, and they incorporate a variety of alternative investments to help clients protect their hard-earned, irreplaceable assets during downturns.

According to Hillis, “As interest rates continue to rise, many investors in bonds will likely be losing principal. Alternative investments such as REITs can help hedge against bonds going down. This event will cover how to manage risk and use market pullback as an opportunity.”
