Montalvo Food & Wine Event a Record-Breaking Success

On Sunday, June 2, Montalvo Arts Center hosted its tenth annual Food & Wine Classic. It was, without question, the most successful Food & Wine yet.

A highly-anticipated event, Food & Wine transforms the historic Villa into a gourmet paradise for one Sunday in June. A selection of some of the most acclaimed chefs and esteemed vintners in California attend, chatting with guests as they prepare and serve their unique creations.

This year’s Food & Wine celebration was the best-ever attended, with 443 total tickets sold. It also grossed a record-breaking amount: over $300,000 through sold-out ticket sales and through guests’ generous participation in Montalvo’s “Make a Difference” drive and live auction—in fact, the live auction raised nearly double the institution’s projections.

Some of the packages attendees bid on included a private dinner for 8 catered by Montalvo Culinary Artist in Residence, Andrea Blum; a sunset dinner for 10 hosted by Peter Thompson (owner of Andrew Geoffrey Vineyards) on his private deck on Diamond Mountain; and—without question, the most wildly popular auction item—seats at a progressive dinner held at three stunning private homes on a single street in the Santa Cruz Mountains, featuring cuisine by Chef Peter Armellino of the Plumed Horse and wine from the vintners of Kathryn Kennedy Winery, Domaine Eden, and Conrado Cellars, all of whom will also be in attendance at the dinner.

Montalvo is a non-profit, member-supported organization that serves over 200,000 people a year—15,000 of whom are local school children—who visit the historic Villa and scenic grounds, attend Montalvo concerts and performances, and engage with the organization’s arts education and outreach programs. Montalvo receives zero funding from the State of California and zero funding from the City of Saratoga. It is because of the generosity of its supporters that it is able to continue to be a vibrant part of the Silicon Valley creative community.
