Saratoga Celebrates National Library Week

Santa Clara County librarian Nancy Howe invites the community to finish week-long observance on Saturday, April 20.

It was at the public library as a young girl that I first glimpsed a larger, culturally rich world.

I roamed the aisles of books. I explored and dreamed. One reason we value our public libraries is they are timeless places of imagination.

Public libraries enrich our community life and conversations. Public libraries help our youngest children get ready to read and support our students through school with research materials and homework help.

Public libraries promote lifelong learning and the love of reading. Having ready access to information helps us make life decisions, improve our job skills, plan a vacation, or plant a vegetable garden. Libraries enrich lives.

National Library Week is observed April 14-20.
