Support Your California Seniors: Check Checkoff CA

Since it was established in 1980, The California Senior Legislature has been successful in submitting over 300 legislative proposals to the California Legislature. Of those 192 have been signed into law. This clearly highlights their commitment to do whatever it takes to make positive change for seniors.

Here are three bills that could be voted into proposals by the end of April if the California Senior Legislature receives enough support and donations:

In order to continue to do this good work each year the California State Legislature must raise $250,000 in donations to Code 402 on the 2013 State Income Tax From. California is one of many states that allow taxpayers to make a voluntary, tax-deductible contribution to one or more worthwhile causes in the "Contributions" section of their state tax return. In 2013, more than 350,000 Californians checked off their favorite cause on the state tax form 540, raising over $4.5 million.

However, the majority of these funds experienced a decline in donations in 2013. These 20 plus organizations rely heavily on donations from the tax checkoff to continue their positive impact throughout the Golden State.

The California Senior Legislature depends upon fellow California citizens to help them do this important work as it not only benefits today’s seniors, but tomorrows as well.
