Cold Bay Area Weather to Linger Until Mid-Week

Slight warming trend begins Wednesday.

Freezing overnight temperatures will continue in many parts of the Bay Area early this week before a slight warming trend begins Wednesday, a National Weather Service forecaster said.

After Wednesday, temperatures are expected to return to normal for this time of year, which usually sees lows in the 40s -- rather than in the 20s and 30s as seen in the past few days, forecaster Steve Anderson said.

"It's not warm, but warmer," Anderson said of the approaching weather system.

Many areas, including in the North Bay, the Santa Clara Valley and the Santa Cruz Mountains, have been experiencing freezing and below-freezing temperatures overnight.

The next seven days should be dry, Anderson said.

This weekend will see some areas breaking into the 60s, he said.

A freeze warning was also issued for much of the Bay Area Monday morning between the hours of 2 and 9 a.m., according to the NWS.

Temperatures are expected to range from the upper teens in the coldest areas of the North Bay to 20s and low 30s elsewhere in the Bay Area.

There is no freeze warning for San Francisco, but a frost advisory has been issued for the city.

Temperatures there are expected to hover in the lower to mid 30s.
