Just a short update to say congratulations to Emily Lo for being sworn in as Saratoga's new mayor, and Howard Miller as the new vice mayor. The ceremony and reception took place last night on Wednesday, December 4.
Saratoga's mayoral election is an interesting one. Councilman Chuck Page explained the process to me a few months ago. Saratogans elect their council representatives but the council votes for mayor.
Page commented to me via email today that it's interesting that Miller has been mayor but never vice mayor.
According to this excellent 2010 YouTube video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfHVkhcjfIU, Emily Lo has lived in Saratoga more than 15 years, and is a past president of both the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce and the Saratoga High School PSTA as well as a local businesswoman.
I would like to invite Emily Lo and the city council to comment further on the ceremony and priorities moving forward.
I personally wish Mayor Lo the best and thank her for stepping up to the plate.
Additionally I thank immediate past Mayor Jill Hunter for her service the past 12 months, and for Chuck Page for quickly answering my questions whenever I contact him.
