Tony Robbins on Destiny

What inspires you to be happy or do great things?

I’m inspired by people who reach milestones. And I don’t just mean huge milestones like losing 100 pounds or climbing Mt. Everest.

I’m inspired by someone losing only 10 pounds or hiking five miles on the Los Gatos Creek Trail.

I’m inspired by someone who is too tired to go Zumba class after a long work day but manages to walk the dog by moonlight.

I also am inspired by motivational speakers like Tony Robbins.

Robbins once said, “Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives.”

I’m pleased to announce that I’m now a volunteer with TEDxSanJoseCA working with Executive Director and Curator Diane Michlig (pronounced mick-lig), a Silicon Valley resident and consultant who has led five events.

It’s an independent initiative affiliated with TED which stands for Technology Entertainment and Design. How can you not love TED? TED specializes in inspiring and ideas worth spreading.

 Here are some facts about the event happening this week.

Attendees will experience the magic of TED while watching Live Stream from TEDGlobal on a large outdoor screen at Santana Row.

When asked about the event, Michlig said, “We are in the midst of a global remix.  A new world is emerging at the intersection of once separated realities. Everything we think we know might just be wrong. TEDGlobal brings together those who challenge us to pause for an instant and, ‘Think again.’”

Local live speakers will join the conversation. Topics include the search for extraterrestrial life, chasing your dream to be on “The Late Show with David Letterman” despite fighting terminal cancer, winning Olympic gold after being diagnosed with a heart defect, and creating a real-life Star Trek medical tri-corder.
