Attempted Abduction of Girl Was False Report

—By Bay City News

The reported attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl in Pacifica on Sunday was a false report by the girl and a friend, Pacifica police said this week.

The girl had told police that while she was in the area of Beach Boulevard and Santa Rosa Avenue shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday June 16, a man approached her and told her she was coming with him, according to police.

Police said she reported that when she refused, the man attempted to physically force her, but she punched him and was able to run away.

The girl was not injured. Police searched the area but did not locate a suspect.

Detectives investigating the incident interviewed witnesses and started looking into potential suspects but started to doubt the report was true. Both girls later admitted the story was false, according to police.
