Cigarettes Blamed For Saratoga Fires

Small blazes cause more than $1,000 in damages to property.

Unattended cigarettes are to blame for two small fires in Saratoga this past weekend.

According to Santa Clara County fire reports, the small blazes caused more than $1,000 in damages and were unintentional.

The first fire was reported at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 at 14675 Aloha Ave. and began when a lit cigarette burnt the fence of the property causing $100 in content loss.

The second fire was reported at 4:08 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 18 at 19722 Crestwood Drive and began when another lit cigarette burnt a television inside the dwelling causing $1,000 in content loss.

A third blaze was also reported at 11:03 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16 at 15250 Bohlman Rd. and was caused by a WD 40 can that was shot and caught on fire, according to the fire report.
