A Message From Saratoga Mayor Jill Hunter

City's top government official also serves as chairwoman of the Saratoga Village Development Council.

Volunteers will start bringing love notes to many of the stores in Saratoga Village today, Friday, Feb. 1.

We would appreciate it if merchants can place them in visible spots in their windows. In addition, people can bring their love note to a store of their choice for window viewing.

The notes have been completed by our school children and adults who want to show their appreciation for all aspects of life in our beautiful city. They will be removed after Valentine's Day Feb. 14 and given back to those who have put their names and addresses on the back. Otherwise we will collect them and perhaps put them up again next year! Children can come into the Village and find their love notes in the store windows.

The objective of the love note project is to celebrate our community, show our appreciation for the good things we experience in our lives and encourage our citizens to see what is available in the shops in the Village.

Monday night Feb. 4 there will be a study session at City Hall at 6 p.m. about the Safety Element in our General Plan, which is being completed.

Tuesday morning Feb. 5 at 9 a.m. in Blaney Plaza, the Saratoga City Council will be assembled and discussing all the improvements to the Village, which will take place this summer including signage.

Most of these improvements will be at the Plaza itself but also the sidewalks and some curbs in the Village will be smoothed out and the crosswalk in front of Starbucks lighted.

I hope you will consider coming Tuesday morning and offering your opinion about the improvements.

More improvement discussion will take place at the City Council meeting Wednesday Feb. 6 at about 8 p.m. A vote will be taken at that time to move ahead with the improvements. No parking spaces will be lost ... some may be added.

Lastly also on Feb. 6, the City Council will have a second reading of the market definition and will review the 20-feet height limits to the buildings at the Gateway and Quito shopping center and whether or not to direct the Saratoga Planning Commission to take a look.

It's a big meeting Feb. 6. Please come.
