Nai Hsueh—Saratoga's New Water Board Director

Pledges to ensure property implementation of recently passed Safe Clean Water

Newly elected Santa Clara Valley Water District 5 Director Nai Hsueh appeared before the Saratoga City Council last Wednesday evening to make herself available to them in her new position on the government agency.

The Democratic Saratoga engineer, 59, beat incumbent Patrick Kwok in the Nov. 6 general election.

The seven-director water district provides drinking water and flood protection to 1.8 million people in Santa Clara County.

Since the Safe, Clean Water and Natural Flood Protection Program—or Measure B—was also approved by voters in the Nov. 6 election, Hsueh has pledged to ensure that it is implemented appropriately.

The measure means each home in the county will have to pay $56 a year through 2028 to pay for flood control, environmental cleanup and other water projects.
