City selects Silicon Valley Community Newspapers Editor Brian Babcock as its new administrative analyst.

Saratoga has selected Silicon Valley Community Newspapers Editor Brian Babcock as its new administrative analyst.

The position is part of Saratoga City Manager Dave Anderson's Department.

Babcock, who covered Saratoga for SVCN for several years, was selected after a competitive external recruitment and selection process with a strong applicant pool of nearly 100 people, the city said in a news release.

His first day with the city will be Monday, July 1.

Babcock, who's been editing the local community newspaper The Campbell Reporter for SVCN, will replace administrative analyst Mainini Cabute.

“I am thoroughly excited to be coming to work for the City of Saratoga,” Babcock said. “I had the pleasure of covering the city as a reporter and assistant editor for almost five years. I have built many strong relationships with Council members, commissioners, residents and staff and look forward to continuing and building on those relationships in the future.”

Babcock has reported and written a variety of public policy articles on local government.

He brings more than five years of experience to the administrative analyst position, including public policy analysis and administration, website and content management, social media outreach and customer service.

Babcock also brings experience in media outreach and event coordination as publicity and team development chairperson for Relay for Life of Saratoga.

He holds a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from San Francisco State University and an associate of science in accounting degree from Skyline College in San Bruno.
