It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

No wonder.... I had dreams about being on a boat that night. I woke up Monday morning feeling like IRead More had just gotten off a boat, and hadn't gathered my land legs yet!!! Funny how dreams can tell you something...

I live in beautiful Sonoma County about 30 miles from the Coast. We didn't feel anything. ThankRead More God. Come on up n visit us n then over the hill to Calistoga for a massage n spa treatment. This wine country lifestyle is terrific. Our motto: "Rest. Relax. Enjoy!" God has truly blessed this area with His goodness.... N again, we didn't feel any EQ. Aren't we lucky? :-) From "The Wine Country Diva"

Attn: John Yes, I do remember being quite "peeved" about that in years past as well. IRead More agree that they should at least give us the 3 major holidays and let us have reasonable fires. Better yet, let us "self regulate" and then just go after the major offenders. I think we should have a right to heat our homes in the manner we choose. Thanks for your reply! Steve A.

I hear you! I get particularly peeved when the wind is blowing from the east out to sea and we haveRead More a no burn day. Living blocks from the ocean coastal communities should not be lumped into the greater bay area. This year I really dug into the data, looking at the projected AQI that they set and base no burn days off of vs what actual numbers came in at. Almost every time their projected AQI was well over the actual number, and not by a little, by 20-40 points or more. The majority of the Spare the Air days called did not turn out to have an AQI over 100. I believe KPIX did a story on this? Any one location over a 100 AQI projection triggers a spare the air day the next day for the whole of the Bay Area, from Santa Rosa to South San Jose. There were days that Santa Rosa would have a projection of 103, for example, no-where else would be over 100 and they would call a Spare the Air day for the whole of the Bay Area. Then the actual numbers would come in and Santa Rosa would top out at 89. Below the trigger. It happened consistently all season long. I started posting the actual numbers on Spare the Air's page and calling them on it. Funny how they would respond to many other posts, but never mine. They falsify their data to fit their agenda, and since it is a "projection", when they are wrong, just chalk it up to being "better safe than sorry". Meanwhile we pay more for heating.
John Negley March 12, 2014 at 04:52 pm
Found it. As of Jan 14th, they were right about the AQI and calling a legitimate Spare the Air day 4Read More times out of 14 days. http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/green/Questionable-Spare-the-Air-Days-Issued-137323543.html

Actually the four locos was removed from the shelf long ago. Trying to remember why. Something toRead More kids drinking and some getting very ill ... maybe a high caffeine level or alcohol in it and not labeled as alcohol. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/caffeinated-loko-shelves-country-dec-13-article-1.452337 then they returned again These at that time were in the energy drink section. They have returned MINUS the caffeine.

I hear the Monsters are bad for you too, which sadly, I enjoy...
John Negley March 12, 2014 at 01:57 pm
Chris - Most energy drinks can be bad for you. Look at the amount of servings that are in a can, aRead More large can will have up to 4 servings. Most everything in moderation is fine. But when you, and more importantly a kid weighing 60 lbs drinks 4 servings of an energy drink all at once, bad things can happen. It is why Monster and Rock Star come under scrutiny and why Red Bull with their small cans flies under the radar. I enjoy an energy drink now and again as a pick me up, but tend to keep to Red Bull because of the serving size.

The rain that came down in NorCal is not even a fraction of what we get here in Washington State.Read More California would look like the Pacific Ocean, if we traded weather.

Stupid is as stupid does. The control of the government by the left has so manipulated theRead More electorate that they can vote to fund a HSR and not think that the money better used for collecting, storing, and distributing H2O. it's too simple but that does not adhere to the agenda. Jerry Brown went to the desert to see how to handle water (Jordan) but did not go to wet states like Washington sounds stupid to me? If you want to see how to turn a desert into a garden of Eden got o Israel.

I got two ticks this week at Hidden Villa and discovered in my research that they cause Polio likeRead More symptoms if left in for a long time. I am sure these kids were checked for ticks but it is creepy what kind of bad thins can happen by the smallest of creatures. Home these people recover.

Yes, the County Library System is very good. If you live in certain cities, e.g. San Jose - citiesRead More whose taxes do not support the county library system - you have to pay to be a patron - last time I checked on this a few years back the fee was $80 per year. I serve Los Altos as a Volunteer TV Producer for their coverage area - and I have done shows about Los Altos, such an Historic Landmark Show - and yet I cannot take out materials from the Los Altos Library. Interesting. I am glad there are other libraries in the area - most are not as good, but some are. Marc Isaac Potter Independent TV Producer

I was very happy to see this posting and also the one a few weeks ago, as this is about awareness.Read More There are so many people, including doctors, who don't understand Lyme Disease, the symptoms and how devastating it can be if not diagnosed and treated properly. Lyme is often misdiagnosed as the symptoms mimic many other diseases like Rheumatoid Arthritis, MS and Lupus which can lead to devastating consequences. If Lyme is caught early, you have a bulls eye rash and are treated with a 6-8 week course of antibiotics, you will most likely not suffer any residual effects. If it is not caught early, it can change your life forever. Many people don't get the telltale rash and don't even know they have been bit. So many doctors in California are not educated on the symptoms which can lead to being misdiagnosed and put on medication that allows the Lyme bacteria to spread. Sorry for the long post, but Lyme is much more common than you think, and the numbers keep growing. And speaking from experience, is very painful and very difficult to treat when it becomes chronic. I am one of thousands in the Bay Area that have the disease and it has most definitely changed my life. Education and awareness is key.

Those lovely deer that we have roaming are front yards for people that have homes in the hills ofRead More the mid peninsula carry more tics than you can imagine. They roam your yards and deposit those parasite's on your property. Keep that in mind. You do not have to go to a trail to get bit by a tick.

Once they are already on a deer, and embedded in their "host", why would they drop off toRead More be in your yard? (Excuse my ignorance, if applicable).
